The Masters Tournament 2010 Went Into Second Round

The Masters Tournament 2010 went into second round action today. The Masters Tournament results during that second round have been a bit different from the first round, sending leader Fred Couples deeper into the pack.

Fred Couples posted a very nice round of 66 on the first day of the 2010 Masters Tournament, but on day two on the course, he could only muster a three-over-par 75. That took away his one stroke lead and overall score of (-6) and placed him at (-3) after two days on the course. He still has two more rounds this weekend to try and regain the stroke, but several golfers raced ahead of him as they took to the course for their own second rounds.

Day two of the 2010 Masters Golf Tournament had belonged to Lee Westwood when he was done on the course Friday. Through the first 13 holes of the course, he was sitting at five-under-par for the day and had a combined score of 10-under-par for the tournament at that point. His (-10) had him sitting safely in first place at The Masters, just two shots ahead of Ian Poulter, and four shots ahead of the rest of the top five on the leaderboard. All attention was on Westwood as The Masters live coverage finally began on ESPN, and everyone wondered if he was going to be the next man to walk away with the green jacket. Everyone was also quite aware that there was still a Tiger lurking.

Tiger Woods still had a lot of attention on him during the second day of the 2010 Masters, and again he put up a better score than most of the field. He golfed a modest two-under-par 70 during his second round on the course, but combining that with his 68 from Thursday put him at (-6) for the first two days. With a lot of golfers still to go, he was sitting in a tied for third place with Choi and Barns. Having Tiger Woods this close to the leaders of The Masters shows that he is indeed ready to play golf again, and that he does really have a great chance to win this tournament if he can put in two more good rounds of golf over the weekend.
