Sony Will No Longer Produce Floppy Disc

Sony will no longer produce floppy disc – Floppy disc popularity continues to decline even practically on the verge of extinction because many people no longer used. Computer manufacturers began to abolish the newly-made PCs and laptops.

“Most consumers that still remains is the old equipment users in the education sector and research centers,” said Sony. Last year the floppy disc in the Japanese market alone reached 12 million units and Sony supplies around 70 percent.

The need for a floppy disc never experienced the peak in the mid-1990s when nearly all computers use the equipment capacity is 1.44 MB. However, demand for floppy disc declining since the development of CD-R, CD-RW, even USB flash disc that offers data storage capacities are much greater.
